Tour Plan

Aswan Sightseeing & Nile Cruise Embarkation

Meet your Egyptologist guide and begin your sightseeing tour of Aswan, traveling between the attractions by private air-conditioned vehicle.

Aswan High Dam

Completed in 1970

Start with a visit to the Aswan High Dam, one of Egypt’s most important modern engineering achievements. Completed in 1970, the dam regulates the Nile’s flow, helps control annual flooding, supports irrigation, and generates hydroelectric power. It also created the vast reservoir known as Lake Nasser.

Learn how this major project transformed water management and contributed to Egypt’s modern development.

The Unfinished Obelisk

Continue to the Unfinished Obelisk, located in Aswan’s ancient granite quarries. Generally dated to the New Kingdom, this enormous monument was abandoned while still being carved, offering a fascinating insight into the stone-cutting techniques used by ancient Egyptian craftsmen.

Observe the visible cracks and quarry marks that reveal the challenges faced by the workers. If completed, the obelisk would have been among the largest ever erected in ancient Egypt.

Philae Temple

Proceed by private air-conditioned vehicle to the Nile waterfront, where you will board a motorboat to Philae Temple.

Visit the beautiful Philae Temple, a magnificent sanctuary dedicated primarily to Isis, the ancient Egyptian goddess of magic and motherhood. Originally situated on Philae Island, the temple complex was carefully relocated to nearby Agilkia Island during an international UNESCO-led rescue campaign in the late 1970s and early 1980s to protect it from rising waters following the construction of the Aswan High Dam.

Explore its impressive gateways, elegant columns, and finely carved reliefs while your guide explains the temple’s religious and historical significance.

After your visit, return by motorboat to the Nile waterfront and transfer by private air-conditioned vehicle to the cruise dock.

Embarkation on Your Nile Cruise

Board your Nile Cruise, complete the embarkation procedures, and settle into your cabin. Lunch will be served onboard, followed by leisure time to relax and admire the beautiful Nile scenery from the deck.

Helpful Hint: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Keep your essential belongings with you during the motorboat transfer to and from Philae Temple.

Mainly constructed during the Ptolemaic Period, approximately 180–47 BC

After breakfast, meet your Egyptologist guide and disembark to visit Kom Ombo Temple, a distinctive riverside sanctuary renowned for its unusual double design. The temple was dedicated to two deities: Sobek, the crocodile god associated with the Nile and fertility, and Horus the Elder, a falcon-headed god.

Explore its twin entrances, symmetrical halls, impressive columns, and finely carved wall reliefs. Your guide will explain the temple’s religious significance and the role these two deities played in ancient Egyptian beliefs.
